BLOOMSDAY REGISTRATION OPENS JANUARY 1ST
In-Person Race Planned for Sunday, May 1st
Spokane, WA—Ready. Set. Bloom! Beginning January 1, you can register for Bloomsday 2022. Race day is Sunday, May 1st and you can enter online at www.bloomsdayrun.org for the early entry price of $28.
It’s been since 2019 that Spokane’s Lilac Bloomsday Run was last run on the streets of Spokane. This year, race organizers are planning for an in-person race with the traditional start on Riverside Avenue and the famous finish on the Monroe Street Bridge. The two previous editions of the race were held virtually with participants from all over the U.S. and the world running a 7.46 mile course to earn their finisher shirt.
This will be the 46th running of Bloomsday. In ordinary years, the number of race participants ranges from 35,000 to 45,000.
The virtual race will also be available for Bloomsday 2022 for those who prefer that option. This year’s virtual shirt will have a slightly different look than the in-person finisher shirt. The virtual entry fee will be $38 and includes the cost of mailing the shirt. More than 40,000 people entered Virtual Bloomsday (2020 and 2021) in both years combined.
West Central Community Center - - located at the top of Bloomsday’s famous Doomsday Hill - - is the official charity of Bloomsday 2022. Entrants can donate to this organization when registering for Bloomsday.
Bloomsdog was the runaway hit of last year’s Bloomsday with close to 500 pups signing up to run their own virtual 7.46 mile run. This lovable category is back for 2022. Runners must sign up for virtual Bloomsday to purchase the Bloomsdog kit. New this year: for every kit sold, Bloomsday will donate $5 to the Spokane Humane Society.
Public health is important and the forefront of race weekend planning. For a safe and successful Bloomsday, race officials will follow the recommendations of public health officials including those orders and guidelines in place for Washington State events. This includes all policies and procedures for the Spokane Convention Center, the site of the Bloomsday tradeshow and race number pick-up.
