OVER 7,000 KIDS EXPECTED FOR 2020 FIT FOR BLOOMSDAY PROGRAM

Elementary Schools Have Until January 24th to Sign Up

Spokane, WA—Elementary schools from Eastern Washington and North Idaho have a little less than two weeks left to sign up for this spring’s Fit for Bloomsday...Fit for Life youth fitness program.  CHAS Health is once again the presenting sponsor of this popular after-school program.  Last year more than 70 schools signed up with more than 7,000 kids participating in this ten-week running and walking program.

“Fit For Bloomsday is one of our cherished youth programs.   We get outstanding support from principals, teachers, PE instructors and parent volunteers, as well as sponsorship support from CHAS Health,” said Bloomsday Race Director Jon Neill. “The community has really embraced this program through the years.”

Now in its 35th year, the Fit For Bloomsday...Fit For Life program—dubbed Fit For Bloomsday for short—was developed by Bloomsday volunteers in cooperation with PE instructors, coaches and parents in the Spokane area. The Lilac Bloomsday Association provides information, materials, structure and incentives for the program, which is administered by school personnel and volunteers at participating schools.

The program prepares kids to run or walk Jr. Bloomsday and Bloomsday while teaching them the importance of fitness, nutrition and safety. Special coupons are provided to participants by Riverfront Park, Mobius and the Garland Theater to help motivate kids to stick with the program for all ten weeks.

Schools can sign up for Fit for Bloomsday by downloading the application form and returning it to the Bloomsday office by January 24th.

Kids and adults who want to sign-up for Jr. Bloomsday (kids only) or Bloomsday can register online now at www.bloomsdayrun.org.
