Design the 2020 Lilac Bloomsday “Super Secret” Finisher T-Shirt
$1,000 for the design selected by Bloomsday . . . and fame for a lifetime!
August 13, 2019—Ever wanted to design a t-shirt worn by 40,000 people?! Now’s your chance!
The Lilac Bloomsday Association, in cooperation with The Inlander, is now accepting designs for the coveted 2020 Bloomsday Finisher T-shirt. Deadline for submitting designs is Wednesday, September 18, 2019, and the Lilac Bloomsday Association will pay $1,000 for the design selected. Entries may be submitted at the Bloomsday building or at Paper & Cup in Kendall Yards.
The design can have up to 6 colors (there will also be a one-color imprint of the sponsor logo on the sleeve). Artist can recommend a shirt color, although the final decision on that will rest with Bloomsday. The words Lilac Bloomsday Run (or Bloomsday), Spokane, Washington, 2020 (or ’20), and Finisher must be incorporated into the design.
Design must be able to transfer well in the screen-printing process. To see designs and colors of past shirts, click on History/Highlights/Stats, T-shirt & Poster History on the Bloomsday website.
Design(s) should be mailed or delivered by September 18th to Lilac Bloomsday Association, 1414 N. Belt St., Spokane, WA 99201 (note: office will be closed September 11 - 13). If you choose to deliver the design(s) in person to the Bloomsday office, please call first (838-1579 ext. 11) to make sure someone will be in the office to receive your design. Designs may also be delivered to Paper & Cup in the Inlander Building at 1227 W. Summit Parkway, Spokane, WA 99201 (open Tuesday through Sunday, 7:30 am until 2:00 pm). Please note the following:
- Designs should be no larger than 13 inches high and 11 inches wide.
- Artist’s name, postal address, email address and phone number must be on the back of each design.
- Please do not send CDs.
- We discourage artists from submitting PDFs or other electronic files. We recommend submitting designs in as polished a HARD COPY form as possible.
- Artwork cannot be returned.
Artist of the design selected for the 2020 finisher’s shirt will be notified by mid-October. If your design is selected for the 2020 finisher’s shirt, we will pay you $1,000. Please note that because of Bloomsday’s tradition of not revealing the T-shirt color or design ahead of time, the winner will not be able to reveal that his/her design has been selected until the first person crosses the finish line on May 3, 2020. This is Spokane’s best kept secret! Failure to observe this provision will result in forfeiture of all money paid to the artist by the Bloomsday Association.
Bloomsday will publicize the design winner as the official shirt designer.
Artist also agrees to work with the Bloomsday Race Director and the screen-printer chosen by the Lilac Bloomsday Association in making sure the design is in a final form acceptable to Bloomsday and ready for high quality screen-printing. Artist also agrees to provide artwork that can be used by the company that produces specially minted medallions that are awarded to top finishers in each age division.
