VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

Friday, April 27, 2018

Start, Water Aid, Marmot March, T-Shirt Distribution

Spokane, WA—With a little over a week until the 42nd running of the Lilac Bloomsday Run, organizers are eagerly seeking additional volunteers to help with the start line, water aid, Marmot March (face painters), and T-shirt distribution on race weekend. Details are available by clicking the Volunteers button on the Bloomsday website and then selecting the appropriate category on the dropdown menu.

“The success of Bloomsday is totally dependent on the support of nearly 5,000 volunteers,” said Bloomsday Race Director Don Kardong. “Most of our volunteer positions don’t require much, if any, prior experience, but it’s crucial that we fill all open positions to make sure things proceed smoothly before, during and after the run.”

For those interested in helping, here are a few details:

Start Line—To help manage the crowd on Riverside. To volunteer, click the “Volunteers” button, then Start Line on the drop-down menu, then initiate an email to start line director Michael Kiter.

Water Aid—Station #5 just past the Bloomsday finish line. To volunteer, click the “Volunteers” button, then Water Aid on the drop-down menu, then initiate an email to station leader Melanie Meagher.

Marmot March—Saturday, May 5. Volunteers are needed for face painting and a Nurse or EMT with kit for first aid (other Marmot March volunteer positions are filled). You don’t need to be a professional artist to do the face painting, just someone willing to work with kids. To volunteer, click the “Volunteers” button, then Marmot March on the drop-down menu, then initiate an email to Michelle Neill.

T-Shirt Distribution—About 100 more volunteers are needed on Sunday morning, May 6th to help set up the T-shirt area, unload the shirts, and hand them out. For more information, click the “Volunteers” button, T-Shirt Distribution on the drop-down menu, then initiate an email to Marc Browning.

This year’s Bloomsday is scheduled for Sunday, May 6. Nearly 45,000 runners, joggers and walkers are expected to participate.
