âWe know itâs cold out and thereâs snow on the ground,â said Lilac Bloomsday Association President Mark Starr. âBut in four months weâll all be enjoying spring weather and the excitement of running or walking seven-and-a-half miles along the Spokane River.â
Â
Everyone who enters Bloomsday online through February 11th will be automatically entered in the Apple iPhone or Samsung Galaxy drawing. The early bird drawing has been going on for many years, but this is only the second time the winner will be able to choose between two different items.
Â
Those signing up for Bloomsday will also have the opportunity to add a donation to the Spokane Guildsâ School & Neuromuscular Center, which has been selected as Bloomsdayâs official charity for 2018. The Guildsâ School is a 57-year-old nonprofit that provides a high-quality early-intervention program for children, from birth to age 3, who are impacted by developmental disabilities and delays. The Spokane Guildsâ School serves children who were born prematurely, have cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, muscular dystrophy, autism, chromosomal deletions, various syndromes, shaken baby syndrome and general delays.
Â
âBloomsday is proud to welcome the Spokane Guildsâ School as our official charity in 2018,â said Starr. âAdding a donation to your Bloomsday entry will help cover costs and copays for struggling families as well as help fund a multitude of services at the Guildsâ School.â
Â
The 42nd Bloomsday will be Sunday, May 6, 2018. Full Bloomsday details will be released in early March, at which time printed entry forms will be available at locations throughout the Inland Northwest.
