Performers Have Until March 22^th for a Spot on the Course

March 20, 2017—Performers wishing to pad their resumes by boasting about playing in front of an audience of 50,000 have until Wednesday, March 22^nd to sign up to provide entertainment along the 7.46-mile Bloomsday course.

One of the unique features of Bloomsday is the great live entertainment found along the route. All forms of entertainment are welcome, from bands, to solo artists, to dancers! Performers who would like to showcase their talents at the 2017 Lilac Bloomsday Run can find an application form online at www.bloomsdayrun.org.

“Having entertainment on the course is great fun for everyone. Runners and spectators alike will be ”Dancin’ in the Streets” said Course Entertainment Director Laurel Warner. “It’s part of what makes Bloomsday great.”

As in years past, there will be a contest after Bloomsday for participants to vote for their favorites, with the top three performers winning prize money of $500, $300 and $200. Winners are determined by entrants who log on to the Bloomsday website and vote after the race.

Last year rock group Nixon Rodeo, located at the base of Doomsday Hill, earned the title of “Best Bloomsday Entertainer” for the second straight year. Not far behind Nixon Rodeo in the vote tally were the Student Jazz Ensemble, located just after the turn off Government Way to Ft. George Wright, and Black Gingham, an early performer on the course.

Organizers will review applications and select performers by March 29^th for the available spaces along the course. Performers must be officially registered in order to be eligible to win the 2017 Best Bloomsday Entertainer Award.
