REUNITE THE BAND!--PERFORMERS HAVE UNTIL MARCH 25TH TO APPLY

Friday, March 6, 2015

March 6, 2015—With the 39th running of the Lilac Bloomsday Run quickly approaching, organizers are looking for talent in Spokane and surrounding communities to provide on-course entertainment along the 7.46-mile course. All forms of entertainment are welcome, from bands, to solo artists, to dancers! The deadline, previously March 4th, has been extended to March 25th to ensure that everyone has a chance to register to be a part of the fun on Sunday, May 3rd.

“Having entertainment on the course is great fun for everyone” said Course Entertainment Director Dori Whitford. “It allows those participating in the run to enjoy roadside entertainment, while also shining a spotlight on the talented performers we get each year.”

As in years past, there will be a contest after Bloomsday for participants to vote for their favorites, with the top three performers winning prize money of $500, $300 and $200. Winners are determined by entrants who log on to the Bloomsday website and vote after the race. Last year, country/pop singer Tori Whitten emerged victorious among the 28 performers on the course. Rockers Nixon Rodeo finished a strong second, and the rock/pop dance group the Angela Marie Project was third.

Performers who would like to showcase their talents at the 2015 Bloomsday Run can find an application form online at www.bloomsdayrun.org (click Race Information, On-Course Entertainment). Organizers will review applications and select performers by April 8th for the available spaces along the course. Performers must be officially registered in order to be eligible to win the 2015 Best Bloomsday Entertainer Award.

For non-performers, sign-up for the 39th annual Lilac Bloomsday Run is available online at www.bloomsdayrun.org. Printed entry brochures are available at locations throughout the Inland Northwest, including Bloomsday sponsors Washington Trust Bank, Safeway Stores, Franz Bakery, Premera Blue Cross, Holy Family Hospital & Sacred Heart Medical Center, and Sports Authority Stores.

The on-time entry fee for Bloomsday is $18.00 this year, the lowest in the nation for a major running event. Mailed entries must be postmarked by April 14 to avoid the late entry fee of $35.00. In addition, three area Sports Authority stores will be taking entry forms from March 1 until the entry deadline of April 14. Online registration is available until April 19 for the $18.00 fee.
