Spokane, WA— Bloomsday organizers have announced that 50,000 bracelets, purchased with the help of Washington Trust Bank, will be passed out to participants in this year’s Lilac Bloomsday Run with the words “Bloomsday Stands With Boston”.
“We were looking for a way to demonstrate our unity with Boston and the Boston Marathon and to show our sympathy for those who died or were injured,” said Steven Jones, President of the Lilac Bloomsday Association. “We also wanted to recognize those near the bombing site who rushed into harm’s way to help and the brave work of marathon volunteers, first responders and law enforcement to deal with the aftermath of the bombing and to work so diligently in solving these heinous crimes.”
“With these bracelets, Bloomsday runners will be able to say that we are with you, Boston, and that we, like you, will stand strong and won’t give in to those who perpetrate such atrocities.”
These lilac colored bracelets will be passed out to registered Marmot March, Junior Bloomsday and Bloomsday runners at Bloomsday check-in on Friday, May 3rd from 11:30am to 8:00pm, Saturday May 4th from 9:00am to 6:30pm and on Bloomsday Sunday May 5th from 6:30 am to 9:00am. Bracelets will be distributed on a first come, first served basis as only 50,000 will be available.
