Finishing Bloomsday can be a challenge. The training required in order to conquer the 7.46 mile course may seem like a daunting task, but to to help aspiring Bloomies get in shape, Providence and Group Health will once again be hosting FREE training clinics.
The clinics will be held every Saturday morning starting March 16th and will continue through April 27th. Each session will begin at 8:30 a.m. with some training tips from a local expert followed by a warm up with a personal trainer. At 9 a.m. it’s time to hit the course. Everyone begins with one mile the first week, adding an additional mile each Saturday and eventually reaching the entire length of the Bloomsday route.
Each member is encouraged to go at their own pace, and volunteers from Providence Health Care and Group Health will be present to provide crossing guards, water stations, and first aid. All clinics will meet at the SpokaneFallsCommunity College gymnasium.
Those interested in participating can sign up in advance by going to www.phc.org , or register at the clinics.
Whether you plan to jog, run or walk, don’t forget to register for the 37th annual Lilac Bloomsday Run at www.bloomsdayrun.org or by picking up a mail-in form at locations throught the Inland Nortwest. Mail-in registration ends April 16th and online registration is available through April 21st.
