Who Are the Fastest Teens in Town? School Challenge Signup Open Until April 12th

Tuesday, March 29, 2011

Spokane, WA—Sign-up for Bloomsday’s second annual School Challenge—sponsored by The Children’s Choice Dentistry—is open from now until April 12th, or until 60 teams have entered. The School Challenge aims to find out which middle schools and high schools have the fastest Bloomsday runners. Winning teams in each of six divisions will receive iPod Shuffles (one for each team member) courtesy of Strong Solutions—1718 E. Sprague.

Along with a chance to win an iPod Shuffle, all participants will receive a shoe bag, a Bloomsday School Challenge T-shirt and access to the Post Race VIP Party in Riverfront Park.

To enter the School Challenge, team members must first sign up for Bloomsday, either online or through the mail, and return a School Challenge Application Form to the Bloomsday office—1610 W. Riverside, Spokane WA 99201—by April 12th. Each team will enter one of six divisions:

  • Junior High/Middle School—All Male
  • Junior High/Middle School—All Female
  • Junior High/Middle School—Co-Ed
  • High School—All Male
  • High School—All Female
  • High School—Co-Ed

The four team members need to be from the same school, but multiple teams may enter from the same school. The three best Bloomsday times will count towards the team total.

“We hope the School Challenge will give teenagers added encouragement to participate in Bloomsday," said School Challenge Chair Gary Markham. “And along with our Fit For Bloomsday Program for elementary school kids, this underscores Bloomsday’s commitment to promoting youth fitness.”

For young and old alike, online registration for Bloomsday 2011 is available at www.bloomsdayrun.org. The on-time entry fee for Bloomsday is $15.00, the lowest in the nation for a major running event. Mailed entries must be postmarked by April 12th to avoid the late entry fee of $30.00.
