Spokane, WA—Hundreds of runners, joggers and walkers will gather this weekend for the first of seven Saturday morning training clinics held at the Spokane Falls Community College gymnasium. The clinics, sponsored by Holy FamilyHospital, Sacred Heart Medical Center and Group Health Cooperative, will provide a medically sound, graduated conditioning program for anyone wanting to get in in shape for the 32nd annual Lilac Bloomsday Run.
Clinics begin at 8:30 a.m. and are free of charge. Participants can check in and pick up a free Bloomsday Training Clinic booklet between 8:00 and 8:15 during the first three clinics (March 15, 22, 29). Long-sleeved T-shirts will be available at each clinic for $10.00.
Each Saturday session will include a training talk and warm-up activities followed by a walk or run on an outdoor course. Training begins with one mile and increases a mile each week. Water stations, first aid, crossing guards and volunteer support staff keep participants safe on the road each week.
