Spokane, WAāThere may be snow and ice coveringĀ SpokaneĀ streets and another snowfall in the forecast, but optimists know spring isnāt far off, and neither is is the 32ndĀ annual Lilac Bloomsday Run. To help fortify New Yearās resolutions to get in shape, early bird registration for Bloomsday is now open atĀ www.bloomsdayrun.org. Those who sign up by February 17th will have a chance to win a trip for two to one ofĀ Seattleās most popular races, the St. Patrickās Day Dash on March 16, 2008.

āWhen weāre still experiencing winter weather itās hard to imagine that Bloomsday is right around the corner,ā said Bloomsday Race Director Don Kardong. āBut spring is on the way, and itās not too early to start thinking about signing up for Bloomsday.ā

Everyone who enters Bloomsday online through February 17th will be automatically entered in the St. Patrickās Day Dash drawing. The winner will receive roundtrip airfare for two fromĀ SpokaneĀ to Seattle, two nights (double occupancy) at the Oāfficial Hotel, the Silver Cloud Inn (Stadium) right next to the finish line, two (2) pairs of Brooks Running Shoes and free entry into the run.

Officially known as Henry Weinhardās St. Patrickās Day Dash, the event is described as āa nearly 3-1/2 mile jaunt fromSeattleĀ CenterĀ to Safeco Field to celebrate the arrival of spring and the Irish in us all.ā Entrants are encouraged to ārun, walk, jog or crawlā the distance. This is the 24thĀ annual Dash, which drew nearly 15,000 entrants last year. Prizes are awarded for āBest Wearinā oā the Greenā and āMost Outrageous Costume.ā

Bloomsday ā08 will be Sunday, May 4, 2008. Full details of the 32ndĀ annual event will be released in early March, at which time printed entry forms will be available at locations throughout the Inland Northwest.
