Spokane, WA—Bloomsday competition comes in all shapes and forms, but only one contest awards creativity, and that’s the Corporate Cup’s “Best Team Name” competition. Businesses that may not have the fastest runners often prove to have the most clever employees, as evidenced by the names they’ve selected for their teams. This year’s list of finalists (see below) ranges from Mutual Materials’ “If You Build It, They Will Run” to the Payne Financial Group’s “No Payne No Gain” to Inland Cardiology’s “Heart and Sole”.
“Over the years I’ve always been amused at the creativity of so many of the Corporate Cup team names,” said Corporate Cup Chair Carol Hunter. “Last year I finally decided we needed to have a contest to make the best ones public.”
Top finalists were selected by a panel that included Bloomsday representatives and sponsors, as well as Spokane Mayor Jim West and City Council President Dennis Hession. The winning three team names will be announced in the Bloomsday Souvenir Results Booklet distributed by The Inlander on Tuesday after the race. Last year’s top team name was “We’re So Vein” by Inland Vascular Institute.
For runners not part of the Corporate Cup Competition, Bloomsday entry is still available online for the $10.00 fee until Sunday, April 17. After that, the registration fee increases to $25.00, either online (April 18 & 19) or at the Ag Trade Center on Bloomsday weekend.
